A Virtual Center for Tuberculosis (TB) Monitoring, Evaluation & Surveillance
The Center of Excellence (COE) is part of a global effort to reach TB targets. We believe that leveraging existing expertise, tools, data and resources will help get us there faster. Participating countries include Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, and Moldova.
Founded in May 2022 and hosted by Georgia’s Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) along with the National Center for Tuberculosis & Lung Diseases (NCTLD) in Tbilisi, the goal of our virtual COE is to provide support to the TB community of practitioners, policy makers, and national TB programs to improve monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to make informed decisions in the design and management of TB programs in the region and worldwide.
What we do
Strengthening M&E Surveillance System
We can’t address what we don’t assess. M&E and surveillance of TB is critical to stopping the disease. The COE serves as a model for best practices in TB M&E and as a technical advisory group for strengthening TB M&E systems in the region.
The COE is committed to the five pillars below:
Analyzing, visualizing, and using TB data to inform decisions and improve programs and services
Communicating and sharing tools, resources, data, frameworks, and results
Building a knowledge base to serve as a key M&E resource for TB staff in the region
Strengthening connections and gathering best practices in TB M&E
Harnessing technology for a tailored learning experience
The COE has been demonstrating strong TB M&E leadership in the region:
Conducted an Eastern Europe and Central Asia Regional Training in TB M&E and Surveillance Capacity Strengthening for National TB Programs
